How Many Newborn Diapers Do I Need?
The number of diapers a newborn baby needs can be sort of unpredictable, similar to accidents. Being a diaper company, we know a thing or two about how many newborn diapers you typically need to stock in your nursery.
Depending on their weight, newborn babies can go through 8 to 12 diapers per day. As a result, diapers cost dramatically different amounts for parents and caregivers.
NEWBORN DIAPER SIZING CHART
As we mentioned, your child’s weight can help determine their diaper size and how many diapers they need. Newborn babies that weigh less than 10 pounds go through the most diapers but you can refer to the information below to prepare your nursery for your unique situation.
- Newborn size - 0-10 lbs. - 8-12 diapers/day
- Size 1 - 7-17 lbs. - 8-10 diapers/day
- Size 2 - 14-24 lbs. - 8-9 diapers/day
- Size 3 - 21-31 lbs. - 6-7 diapers/day
- Size 4 - 28-44 lbs. - 5-6 diapers/day
HOW MUCH DO NEWBORN DIAPERS COST?
Buying diapers isn't cheap, but once you discover how many diapers you need to buy for your child, you’ll be better prepared for how much diapers cost.
Disposable diapers from some of the most popular brands can cost anywhere between $0.20 to $0.30, relative to the retailer. Boxes of diapers usually hold 180-200 nappies, ringing in at around $30.
We think it’s fair to suggest that you can expect to spend about $500-$900 on an annual supply, assuming your baby uses between 2,500 and 3,000 diapers in their first year.
